Windmill

This is Roozengaarde. It's the best place to see colorful blooming tulips in Skagit County.

On this particular day the weather was awful. There were at most a dozen people there.

I thought they would just let me in free. But no, I had to pay full admission. So I walked in a bit grumpy.

But it didn't take me long to discover that I had walked into a treasure chest of photographic opportunities.

On any sunny day this windmill would continually be engulfed by people.

On this day it was a lonesome windmill. Then add to that the constrasts in the sky.

And then the sun broke through and lit up the windmill. I was in third heaven.

I later converted the color photo to black and white to see the contrasts.

That's when I discovered I had captured in the foreground an S-curve created by light and shadows.
